The state of Queensland is a great place to visit throughout the year, and swimming in the northern regions is possible no matter what the season is. There are many other activities and attractions spread across the region as well.

Travelling in Queensland

Travelling around Queensland is easy. The road network is great for travelling in private car and there are many airports across the state if you have to travel a long distance in a short time. Flights are offered by Qantas, JetStar, Virgin Blue as well as a number of smaller regional carriers.

You can also choose travel around the state by trains, which connect Brisbane to many other holiday destinations in Queensland, including Cairns, Townsville, the Whitsundays, Charleville and Longreach. About 70km North of Cairns is Port Douglas – a popular departure point for trips to the outer Great Barrier Reef.

Tropical North Queensland is also well worth visiting as it is home to a number of stunning national parks and rainforest areas.

There is also an extensive public transport network between the south of the Gold Coast to the top of the Sunshine Coast, and everywhere in between. Public transport options include buses, trains and ferries.

Time Differences

Queensland is 10 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +10) and does not observe daylight savings.
